Danville, Ill Dec 13 (wrong – she died Dec 12) – Miss Evelyn Miller, 19, stenographer, was dead today when her fiancée, Clinton Hopper of Covington drove in front of a train. Hopper was badly injured and may not recover.  Montgomery County, Indiana Death Record: 18 Years 11 Months 17 Days – skull fracture auto-trian accident. Works Box Factory. Crawfordsville, Dec 13 – Evelyn Miller, 19 of Danville, was injured fatally and James G. Hopper, Covington, Ind was seriously injured late Sunday when their automobile was struck by a freight train near here. Miss Miller died about two hours after the accident. - kbz

Crawfordsville Dec 14 – The body of Evelyn Miller, age 19 of Danville, Ill was removed to her home Monday following her death Sunday of injuries received two hours before when an automobile in which she was riding with James C. Hopper of Covington, Ind was struck by a southbound Monon railway freight train at a local street crossing. Hopper was injured seriously.

Crawfordsville, Dec 15 – James Clinton Hopper, age 30 of Covington died last night in Culver Union Hospital, here of pneumonia which developed following injuries suffered Sunday when his automobile was struck by a Monon train at a street crossing in this city. Miss Evelyn L. Miller, age 19 of Danville, Ill companion of Hopper was so seriously injured that she died two hours after the crash. Hopper’s parents live at Covington. The death is the 7th resulting from accidents here within four weeks.  Mary Louis Whalen and Lois VanScoyoc were killed at a Monon crossing when their automobile was struck by a train. Miss Joanna McAuliff and her sister, Mrs. Mary Wolfe were fatally injured when struck while crossing a street and Oscar Martin was crushed fatally by an interurban car. - kbz
